GP500

GP500 was the name for the top class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1949 to 2001, before being replaced by the MotoGP class in 2002. While the name “GP500” is no longer in use, it refers to the era when purpose-built two-stroke motorcycles with an engine displacement of up to 500cc competed as the premier class in the FIM Grand Prix World Championship.
