Description

Imagine, if you will, the golden light of a setting sun over the Mulsanne Straight in 1998. You can almost smell the blend of high-octane fuel and scorched rubber. This is not just a car; it is a mechanical resurrection, a bridge between the analog soul of the 1990s and the digital dreams of a generation. What we present here is the Nissan R390 GT1, a road-legal supercar whose carbon fiber body still carries the echoes of endurance battles fought at Le Mans.

The story begins with a man who once looked destiny in the eye at Tamburello and decided that life was too precious to drive a car without a soul. Erik Comas, former Formula 1 driver, later found his true calling in Japanese motorsport. In the Japan Grand Touring Championship (JGTC), he did not simply compete he dominated. In 1998 and 1999, Comas became the first French driver to secure the JGTC Champion title, cementing his place in the history of GT racing.

This particular vehicle is known as “Project Reborn”, a collaboration between Erik Comas and visionary designer Benoit Fraylon. It traces its heritage directly to the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours podium-finishing Nissan R390 GT1, now dressed in the legendary Pennzoil livery that defined an entire era of endurance racing. The striking yellow and black racing colors became a cultural icon during the golden age of the Gran Turismo series on PlayStation, where millions of fans first experienced the virtual power of the R390’s twin-turbo V8 engine.

As sellers, we are offering more than a machine. Erik Comas brings the pedigree of a champion, having completed more than 20,000 kilometers of testing to guarantee a 100% reliability rate. Benoit Fraylon, often described as an automotive alchemist, contributes the artistic vision that transformed this race car into a piece of automotive art. Together they achieved something extraordinary: taking a GT1 endurance racing prototype a rival to icons such as the McLaren F1 GTR and the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and transforming it into a registered road-legal supercar that later won the prestigious Cartier Luxury & Style Concours at Goodwood.

Every surface of this car reflects its TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) engineering heritage and its relentless pursuit of speed. From the refined long-tail aerodynamics to the technical constraints of the GT1 era, this machine represents the pinnacle of 1990s endurance racing engineering.

Owning the Nissan R390 GT1 means owning a fragment of the golden age of Le Mans, when racing was visceral, dangerous, and beautiful. It is a Certified Gran Turismo Classic, waiting to begin its next chapter.
